Are you already dreaming of next year’s vacation? This list will help you book your 2025 getaway, whether it’s a weekend date or a summer getaway.
Lonely Planet recently released its list of 30 must-visit travel destinations for 2025.
“Best in Travel 2025 is the latest edition of Lonely Planet’s annual love letter to the world,” Nitya Chambers, Lonely Planet’s senior vice president of content and editor-in-chief, told the Post in a statement.
“Wherever you are in the world, we are confident that Best in Travel will bring new inspiration for the year to come. »
The list has been divided into top ten cities, countries and regions to provide avid travelers with a range of travel destinations.
Toulouse, France
The southern French city has been named the top city to visit next year thanks to its growing arts scene (it’s a UNESCO City of Music) and winding rivers.
Often referred to as “Paris in miniature”, this pretty city is considered “an ideal weekend destination, a veritable labyrinth of a city with art galleries, recycled industrial sites (and) cafes”, said Chambers to CNN.
Cameroon
If you want to explore more than just one place, Cameroon has been ranked as the best country to visit.
This West African country was chosen for its stunning beaches, uncrowded national parks and vibrant nightlife that takes off in the big cities.
Netherlands and coastal Georgia
If an entire country isn’t enough to satisfy your wanderlust, check out the Low Country and Coastal Georgia region here in the United States.
Charming cities, including Charleston and Savannah, have been highlighted for their rich historical and cultural significance and vibrant culinary scenes.
Two other regions of the United States made the list, although they are not typical of internationally recognized U.S. hot spots: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge region in Oregon.
The ‘Burgh has been mentioned for its blend of “industrial past and artisanal present,” while the Pacific Northwest section is beloved for its incredible natural beauty.
Lonely Planet’s original list comes shortly after National Geographic released its annual list of “the world’s best travel destinations” for 2025, which also cited another American destination less crowded than New York or Los Angeles: Boise, Idaho .
