Cam Robinson trade grades: Vikings land starting LT to replace Christian Darrisaw; Jaguars add draft pick

The Minnesota Vikings worked quickly to find replacement Christian Darrisaw after the left tackle suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Week 8 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. According to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, the Vikings are trading for Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson.

The Vikings receive Robinson and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2026, while the Jaguars receive a conditional fifth-round pick in 2026 that can become a fourth-round pick depending on playing time.

Robinson, 29, is in the final year of a $54 million extension signed in 2022. He was selected by Jacksonville with the 34th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Robinson is coming off a concussion suffered during the Jaguars’ Week 7 win over the New England Patriots. He cleared the concussion protocol but was benched for Walker Little in the Jaguars’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

PFF ranks Robinson 32nd this season, making him the Jaguars’ highest-rated lineman. He has 91 career starts under his belt for the Jaguars and was even given the franchise tag twice. Now he joins an NFC contender that aims to keep pace in the loaded NFC North.

Let’s try to rate this profession:

Vikings: B+

The Vikings should be commended for quickly finding a replacement for Darrisaw instead of relying on their reserves. Minnesota started the season 5-0 before losing two games in a row, and it’s clear that coach Kevin O’Connell has high expectations for this team.

For this team to be as good as possible, quarterback Sam Darnold needs to stay up. Robinson is not the same player as Darrisaw, but he is a legitimate starter at left tackle. His acquisition answers a big question that the Vikings were asking following Thursday night’s unfortunate injury.

As for compensation, it’s possible, even likely, that Robinson will be long gone by the time the 2026 NFL Draft comes around, but that’s a 2024 play.

Jaguar: B

It’s no surprise that Robinson is on his way out of Jacksonville, especially after not playing last weekend. He was in the final year of his contract, and the Jaguars had already parted ways with a defensive lineman in Roy Robertson-Harris, and were struggling at 2-6.

Jacksonville acquired a fifth or fourth round pick for a player whose contract is expiring and already has someone ready to take his place on the offensive line in Little. It’s not a bad deal at all.
